The Georgetown

In honor of March Madness, I decided to record this video yesterday on the opening day of the tournament. It’s an old Baytenders cocktail that Scott and I came up with during our maraschino liqueur phase. It’s called the Georgetown, coincidentally, like one of the teams in the NCAA tournament. To no surprise, it appears I’m bad luck. Georgetown, a number 3 seed, lost to number 14 seed Ohio yesterday, before I could even upload this video.

Anyway, if you have 7 minutes to kill and/or feel like laughing at me, please enjoy :) . A couple things to note: apparently my ‘30 seconds’ is really ‘1 minute’ (you’ll see). Also, see if you can locate my dog Grizzly staring at me, trying to figure out why I’m talking to myself.

The Georgetown:

  • 2 1/2 oz. Spiced rum
  • 1/4 oz. Luxardo maraschino liqueur
  • 3 Dashes orange bitters

Add ingredients to your mixing glass. Add ice and stir for 30-45 seconds. Use julep strainer to strain into chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with twist of orange.

Thanks for checking it out. Leave me your thoughts in the comments below. Cheers!

Outstanding!! You may turn me into a rum convert yet. But, as you know, I still love my bourbon! ;-)

It’s about the beverage, Wagner. No apologies needed.

    you are the new Emeril.

  • Love that drink, I’ve been mixing mine with Renals VSOP lately… bandy aged in french oak delivers a nice wood finish that complements the citrus.

BTW: Sound and Picture are find with the Flip, just keep the light behind the camera and slightly to one side and make sure to wear a (real) shirt that is a different color than the background.
